Why? was born from Giuseppe Stampone’s idea: that one of a neo-dimensional project through the use of Solstizio in its action. A video camera shoots a face in close-up and a voice tries to talk about itself with a question about the most urgent social problems of nowadays. Imagine, then, the same interview repeated to all the people who want to speak with us, to those we meet and visit, in all the languages of the world. Imagine, also, to see them edited in succession, as a long movie of thoughts and wishes. Imagine, at last, to watch them spread by the social networks, one by one, as if they were the pieces of a puzzle making up a shape of which we can’t foresee the size.
“Why?” is a unit to assemble, every time in a different way, according to the circumstances and the media we use: TV, Internet, social networks, the virtual spaces of Second Life, the real place used for the event of the installation. The “Why?” wants to be a communicative-aesthetic tool of great impact, because of the self-creation of contents from the bottom, through questions which take the place of the answers, often predictable, of the media. The “Why?” makes the idea at the base of the Solstizio action to circulate: the narration of the realities and of the differences of the world through the voices and faces of its protagonists. The “Why?” is used in several projects by Solstizio on subjects such as the access to the water (why? H2o), the war (why? War), the emigration and it will be also used in other areas of interest in the future.
